As a Curly Girl for the last 10 years…YaY! I will say that we have a lot of ups and downs when it comes to our hair.

Some’s like

Other Days…it’s like

No matter what day you find yourself in, the key to our hair is it’s amazing versatility! We can rock it long, short, coiffed or wild and free!! Sometimes we even rock it straight.

Here are a few tips you can use, should you choose to straighten your hair.

Always Wash, Condition and Deep Condition your hair
PROTECT YOUR HAIR using a heat protectant prior to using heat
Start with a low temperature on your heating tool and then increase as necessary
Do not let heating tool rest on your hair

To avoid using too much heat on your hair, try doing your wash process the day before and let your hair air dry in twists. This will decrease the amount of time you will have the heat from your blow dryer on your hair.

If you are not sure how to straighten your hair, or if you have never straightened your hair before, I highly suggest that you find a natural hair stylist in your area and let them do your hair. The best way to avoid damage is to ask a professional.

I have had success with some of these tools when straightening my hair (which I only do maybe once or twice a year) and some are recommendations from others.  Also keep in mind that all of our hair is different, so what works for one might not work for another.
